Rest!

I think my body had forgotten that I even have abs. They hurt now. I sneezed this morning... oy. Thank goodness Friday is the day of rest.

I ate noodles last night. Oh how I ate noodles last night. And fried rice and dumplings. http://www.yelp.com/biz/du-kuh-bee-beaverton. They make their own noodles there. Probably the smallest restaurant I've ever been to as well. It had a very authentic feel to it, like if it had been a little more humid, I would have felt like I was actually IN Korea. Even though Korea very well may NOT be humid at all. Any foreign place to me is humid. And so it goes.

Tomorrow! I burn off some of those hand made noodles and Kimchee (Kim Chee?) fried rice. It'd gonna be a nasty day out too, so I hear, so it will be back to the gym!

Small Success!

I did it! I'm not so amazed at the fact that I went to the gym for 45 minutes today, but the fact that I woke up on time. This will most likely be my biggest challenge in the upcoming year - waking up on time. I'm bad at it. I like to sleep. When I finally wake up, I like to lay for a while. Not doing anything in particular, or think about anything worthwhile. I just like to lay. It's peaceful.

But I didn't do that today! No-siree! I got up, ate a questionable apple and hit the gym. 35 minutes on the tredmill, I ran/walked in variation 2minutes/5minutes. At first I thought it was nothing to sneeze at... "This is no big deal! Pfft! I thought I was out of shape, and here I am going...gasp... at a 9:30... gasp, gasp, gasp... pace... gasp... oh thank God, I can walk now!" By the end of it I was sweating buckets.

Then I did some very girly pushups right along a side of sloppy crunches.

That's right! Hoo-ah! As my boyfriend would say - I am all that is woman (he'd actually say "I am all that is man after doing something manly - like burping or lifting something heavy)!

Tomorrow I rest because it's my early day at work and there's no way I'm waking up at 5am. No. Way.

Oo! I also get to go to some num-num Korean food tonight with Jen-poo and Marky-poo! And two other people-poo's! Yay!

Day Two

Well, the grilled cheese sandwich eating went really well. A big pat on the back for that.

Tomorrow will be my first day at the gym. I'd go tonight but I have to go to my parent's place after work to pick up information about volunteering at the Oregon Humane Society Telethon this Sunday. Very important stuff. I'm going to be on TV. It's the way I roll.

So the gym! I'm following the "Teach yourself to run" pattern from this here website:

http://www.ehow.com/how_4428371_teach-yourself-run-weeks.html

Which means that's 30 minutes running/walking. My gym is just a hiccup away from my place, so I have no excuses NOT to go.

I'm also eating VERY healthy and drinking LOTS of fluids - very unlike me. This morning - I don't want to say that I woke up with a sore throat - because that's not entirely true... but my throat didn't feel right. I was aware of it - we'll say that. So cross your fingers for me, dear internet, because I can't afford to be sick right now.

Tomorrow' blog should be all about me running! Yes! I can do it! I think!

Aaaaand she's off!

Hello! I'm going to blog about my adventures in learning how to run hoping that blogging will somehow motivate me to continue to move forward - much like a gold star!

Also I have a spreadsheet. An Excel spreadsheet. To keep track of my progress.

Maybe I'll get gold stars as well... Time will tell.

My goal? To run the hood-to-coast at under a 9:30/mile per minute pace. Oy.

MY ATHLETIC BACKGROUND:
I've staggered my way through the 2005 marathon, but I didn't have much of a pacing goal... so I think I ended up somewhere in the 12 minute/mile range. Yes, I'm that slow (thus "The Tortiose" title).

Aaand that's it. Unless you count putting together Ikea furtinure occasionally a sport.

So you can see I've got a bit of an uphill battle. Literally as well as figuratively... Hood to Coast will take me over some hills. Hmmm.

Tonight! I start my adventure by eating tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich with my boyfriend! (Don't judge, I left my sneakers at home today.) (OH! And my sports bra... well... sports bras. I usually wear two whilst running to try to get my boobehs to move as little as possible) (which never really works, they bounce around so much - that sometimes they smack me on my chin... ugh) (I actually told someone that once... an older lady... she told me at least they weren't smacking me on the knees yet. Heh.) (And just so you know, my boobehs don't ACTUALLY hit my chin while running, but they do flop around quite a... oh nevermind, this is getting weird.)

Here I go!
